really digging these choir versions of awesome songs everyone already knows and loves. brings me back to the years i spent in chorus in middle school, high school, and one year of college. no joke. great stuff from the scala & kolacny brothers.
diplo sampled this version of heartbeats for the mix he posted on pitchfork a couple of years ago which eventually became the "i like turtles" mix, and i've managed to track it down just for you.

this was originally supposed to be a mostly-music/some-porn blog, and it's looking like the porn side of things has been coming out in full force as of recent days. not to say i'm unhappy bout that, but the music needs to step it up.
diplo was here on saturday night, and made all my dreams come true when he dropped dead prez into the mix. "hip-hop" was a mind blowing experience for me and my trusty little blue volvo i used to drive around the mountains of NC (whutup montrez!). trunk rattling for real.
i can't understand how sometimes i'll play this for someone and they don't immediately pull a facemelt...

anyway, this mix was more or less MIA and Diplo introducing themselves to the world a couple years ago, and it's still an impressive mix of off the wall stuff from back when mashemups were riding high on the hog. still waiting for vol. 2 to drop, but you can make a solid argument that the santogold/diplo high ranking mix kinda filled that void.
MIA: Piracy Funds Terrorism (2004)
more vinyl rips are on the way. and i promise it'll be stuff that's not from 5 years ago.

look! a really smooth promo mix that diplo did of a bunch of dj shadow related ephemera! it's one big 320kbps track, so give it a little time to load.
Diplo: DJ Shadow Live Session (Megatroid Mix)(2004)
worth mentioning: free diplo show at the terrace come april 11th. it'll be interspectacular!

Beatles: Twist & Shout (Diplo Remix)(Uppercuts, 2006)
this came out on the (apparently now deceased) uppercuts label, which also distributed a one sided 12" of the paul simon track that currently resides one post down. boomkat has the vinyl for both of those, but a legit mp3 is gonna be hard to track down if not impossible due to the fact that the beatles (like most every established act around) are incredibly litigious and have no concept of fair use, except in ways that benefits them.
finally got around to scanning a few things

insane collage that my friend, FUNK did for me way back when.

my friend jason did this one, which is easily one of my favorite things ever. it has a terrible habit of falling off the wall during parties and getting trampled, but it's only a little worse for wear.
and last, but not least, two tracks you'll very likely hear me spin this saturday:
The Who: Baba O'Reilly (Bird Peterson Remix) (Flamin' Hotz, 2007)
Kim Carnes: Betty Davis Eyes (Diplo Remix) (Money Studies, 2007)
both of these guys are out of print as far as vinyl goes (that's how i rock), so there's not much to link to by way of sending people off towards places to support good shit in a financial way. turntablelab has tons of HQ bird peterson and hollertronix mp3s for sale, and the back catalogs for both is pretty consistent.
