todd haynes, he of velvet goldmine fame, made this little stop motion retelling of the karen carpenter story (via barbie dolls) back in 1987, and it didn't take long till the carpenters brought suit and pretty much legally buried the thing due to unauthorized use of the music.

when i was a freshman i knew this dude who was dating an arm-pit-hair-having anarchist or whatever chick and i asked him about whether or not ladies with armpit hair were even a little gross or something. he quickly lifted his shirt to reveal his tummy fur and told me to rub it. then he was all "feels pretty ok, right? well chicks with armpit hair are pretty much the same kinda thing." he didn't exactly sell me on the concept completely, but i got his point i guess.
