chattanooga gave me the beetus

dang what a great weekend. good shit happened personally, but internet people don't care about that. all they wanna know is what i ate, which was really really good.

i'm not gonna go out and say i'm some sort of hot dog connoisseur, but damn if i don't love the hell outta some well made dogs with tons of weird-o toppings options.

good dog is a little local joint on the west side of the tennessee river, surrounded by crappy little knick-knack shops, but regardless, good vibes poured out of the front door. it was immediately determined that this was where lunch was going to get got.

on the left is their chicago dog, which tossed the bun length pickle (eff a purist), replacing it with some crisp dill chips. on the right is the philly dog with brown ballpark mustard lining the bun, cream cheese, and grilled onion sauce. the ketchup options were the real deal, with wasabi (good) and curry (way better) options. and yeah, that's some mayo (plus some sesame seeds). they called it frittessauce, but it was mayo through and through.

note the cupcake in the background. red velvet.

breakfast the day after the wedding was at aretha frankensteins. breakfast, beer, espresso, lunch. you got a better way to spend a sunday afternoon with an open bar induced hangover? nope.

best pancakes i have ever eaten. they do the mix themselves, and cook each one in a cast iron skillet. biscuits on the left that got drenched in apple butter, spicy potatoes and spicy cheese grits.

i'm not even going to go into the food they had at the wedding reception.

The biscuits et al are making me crazy. I miss the south for its myriad of grits most of all, but the whole thing sounds unbelievable.

yeah dude. i get my grits at woodmans these days. we'll get a good old fashioned southern breakfast thing going (grits, biscuits, corned beef hash, etc) on one of these saturday mornings.

i would love to make some livermush, but it's only mass produced in north carolina (neeses! whutup!), and i don;t think it's worth it to have it overnighted here in a freezer box or whatever.

what a great trip! I want a local joint called Aretha Frankensteins.... somehow, I doubt there will be one on the village green in our new town in the UK. Bah! Screw the English and the craptastic cooking.
